I didnt see the raise when I was playing... geesh... I donked that good...

And to my turn call... As Bevis said, I'm either way ahead or way behind... And in this case, he was a good enough player to not fire blindly again (granted a bb gun) into a raiser. I think he was afraid I was goigjn to check and lose him bets when he bet big on the river....

Oh yeah.. and these were consecutive hands... and you'll notice the blinds went up, but I didn't know that when considering the fold in #1.... so I figured 20ish was good enough to rebound and build back. Yeah well, Surprise! You now have half the stack you thought you did.

first hand: sb looks like hes a fish playing the flush draw, he bets min on the flop, calls the raise. Hits his draw, but doesnt know what to do, if he checks and u check behind him he loses chips on the turn, so he decides to bet min again so that u can stay in the pot. when u call his turn, he figures that u will call him on the river so he bets it hard to try to get paid off.

Hand 1: I'd probably reraise this about 90% of the time - regardless of the cards I held. No one has shown any strength, you're in position now but out of position the rest of the hand. I'd raise and fold to any reraise, but would expect to take the pot down most of the time. Raise would likely be pot sized (to $250 total), although I also will go all in from time to time.

Of course I usually start pushing the table around like this from when I'm in the blinds (of course my hand requirements change for each position and are dependant upon the previous action), so if the table plays back I know I'm likely beat and can give it up right here.

You've got to remember that the major differences between tourneys and cash games (I'm not much of a cash game player) is that in tourneys the size of the starting pots compared to the stacks makes stealing pots (however you can do it) a critical skill - and you just have to get over the "but I only have xx cards" mentality. Tournaments are about playing poker, not cards.

The 10% of the time I do check, I play it the same on the flop, but likely make some sort of raise on the turn. Your call on the turn screams "medium strength" and opens the door for a big bluff from your opponent on the river (hence the 600 that you really can't call). Even a min raise here (it's effectively the same as a call) is good, because it just keeps them off balance and significantly reduces the likelihood of the big bluff on the end.

Hand 2: Given your stack size and the blinds, this is an all in or fold situation. Given the odds that you'd be giving them, any of these players would be justified in making that call, so I'm folding here (you don't have to post another blind for 8 hands).
