Default Creating your own Pot odds...

Ok...This was discussed a while ago and I've noticed the situation has gotten more frequent lately so I wanted to reopen it for discussion but instead of opening the old thread I decided it would be better to start a new one.

The situation has happened to me several times in the last few sessions and I'm still not sure I'm handling it correctly. I looked through SSH and couldn't find an example that fit the situation.

Basically, LHE, you're in LP and several limpers come in (say 3). You have something like 78s so you limp, the blinds come in giving you a 6 way multi-pot with you on the button.

Flop comes something like Q56 rainbow giving you the OESD and a backdoor flush low flush draw...checks around to you. At this point you have 6:1 pot odds and if somebody had bet, you would have had at least 7:1 to call. Since nobody bet, if you check for the free turn card, you will only have 4:1 if somebody bets out the next round. If you bet you can beef up the odds for the turn if somebody bets out or go for the free card move on the turn hopeing to hit one of your draws...

I've started betting these hands in this situation for several reasons.

    A) You get the fold equity on the flop.
    B) You can get the free card on the turn, if nothing hits
    C) If somebody bets out on the turn, you usually have the odds to chase your draws, especially if one of your flush cards hit.
    D) If the board stays blank and several people folded on the flop, you have a better chance to try a bluff to drive the rest out.
    E) Serious image buster. If you've been playing rock solid poker and your hand hits, it makes people really scratch their heads when you showdown that you were betting a draw. This hopefullly helps get callers later.

There are several downfalls to this, but I think those are fairly minor compared to the upsides. I'm not completely sure that this is a +EV move though. I feel much more comfortable doing this with a Nut Flush draw, but a lot of people do it with the nut flush draw, not so many (that I see) do it with a nut str8 draw. You also have to be careful about the boards that are picked to do this.

I am looking for thoughts both for and against this type of move. Granted, the board, players and cards all have to fall into place for this to happen, but like I said, I've noticed that it's been happening lately and I'm trying to figure out if I hadn't been noticing the situation earlier or if maybe I'm just playing at a more LP table then I'm used to.
