After this hand ended I was frustrated. I could have won it on the river, but I didn't know that then.

raise a little mor pf. 3bb minimum i think.
also turn bet your betting 1/2 pot. i dont think that conveys a strong image. id proly bet the river too, b/c this guy is just calling.
illl prolly lose alot more chips than you on this hand.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Either a bigger flop bet or check for the free card. I don't like the turn bet in this circumstance.
The other guy is either a calling station (in which case you should have spotted this by now) or your table image is awful and he's prepared to call you with second pair because of it.
If you were prepared to put another 1500 in on the turn, why not put it in on the flop and take it down then? What made you think he would fold the turn having already called? I think he would also have called the river.
This post is probably reading a bit harsh but I think you could either have lost this pot more cheaply or won it on the flop if you are desperate to take it down. I think you fell in love with AKs.
By the look of the state of the tournament I'd have waited for a better spot.Last edited by Irexes; 03-04-2006 at 11:37 AM.

Addendum: I'm not massively opposed to the pot sized flop bet, it's valid if you are prepared to let the hand go if called, treating it more as a continuation bet than a way to play a strong draw. I think that if you are going to bluff or semi-bluff a large chunk of chips then do it in one hit rather than in stages.

Thanks for the insight guys. I don't know if I fell in love with AK as much as I fell in love with the flush draw. I should have raised more PF...however this guy was already calling a decent raise with 10-6s.
I rarely overbet the pot unless going all-in, perhaps it's something I should add to my game."Ok, this is for the game. How you doin' over there? NOT TOO GOOD!"" -Bubble Boy

I like the PF bet here, actually. Early position is usually a 2.5x-3x bet anyway and that's exactly what you did. I might've bet more on the turn and try to drive him out but your draw just didn't hit, that's all.
