He definately is showing strength. Folding is probably the correct call here, but you never know when a fish will play that with A-rag-offsuit. I would probably fold here, thinking he has AQ or AK. You can call here without busting, or you can fold and keep ~8000 chips.

I think he thinks you are on a steal, and is trying to push you out of the hand. I'm thinking you are 80% ahead here. I call.
Think about what he could be holding? AJ-Ak is ruled out since it would have most likely reraised PF. He could be holding a boat, but you have redraws. A suited flush draw or weak two pair is my thinking.
Per poker stove: (on the hand ranges I can see him playing) (hand that are XsXs are suited in Spades, I can't see him playing these hands not in spades)

I think he he could really be on AX... 88 and 99 are still possible.

I lean towards folding. I can't see him check-raising a weak Ace or a drawing hand. A weak Ace makes sense - if its A8 or A9.
IMO, a big ace is very possible. He's in the small blind facing a raise from the CL. It is perfectly feasible that he has A(K-J) and just called to see if he could hit the flop.
88 and 99 are also very possible.
Unless you read him as:
1) very able to make a big bluff here
2) a terrible player that would check/raise A3
Easy fold.

Well, I think you made the right move, he just played it weird. Most sane players would reraise that "obvious Steal attempt" with AK.

You guys are forgetting that he was facing a steal... you are tightening down his hand range way too much.

Well Pok, how likely is it that this guy would read you as stealing? Had you been winning pots without showing? Raising only premium hands? Stealing a lot of blinds? How did the villain see you?
