Default Anybody see that show "High Stakes Poker"

I was watching it last night it's on GSN (game show network) Basically it's a $100,000 buy in ring game.. looks like Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Johnny Chan, and Sam Farha tend to be the "regular's". With a few Dr.s and some other high stakes players thrown in there. The announcing is pretty bad Gabe Kaplan is the one announcer (the guy from "Welcome Back Kotter") and I have no idea who the other guy is. Pretty decent show but it's a good change of pace from the WPT or WSOP.

I didn't see last nights show (at Casino) but i did see the first show when ted forrest got cracked for his whole stack by the Gyno doc, that was pretty good. It is nice to see a ring game, i am sick of watching all the tournies i wasnt to know how these guys play cash games.

If you like to watch poker on TV, this show is definitely worth checking out. New episodes air at 9pm on Mondays and are replayed throughout the week. There have only been 2 episodes so far. Tonight will be the 3rd.

I've seen this a couple of time (actually it's a $50,000 buy in, not $100,000).

The announcers keep maying a big deal about the players playing "with THIER OWN money!!". I've been wondering what the players get for being on - you know they're not doing it for free.

Don't know but isn't there some different players usually, other than the 4 I mentioned? I only saw one episode so far but they talk about other people in the room waiting to get on the table. They can't ALL be getting a cut can they?

GSN doesn't exactly have the kind of budget to bankroll these players (19 of them total). The TV exposure is good for their careers, so I would guess that most of them are using their own dough.

Also, buy-in is $100k and re-buy is $50k.

Sorry, but I just don't buy that guys like Daniel N, Brunson, Forrest, and Chan are going to appear on a TV show like this for free (especially one on GSN). I'm not saying GSN is bankrolling them in the show, but I garantee you they're getting paid something.
