Its very expensive for what it does.

I'd say it was phenomenally cheap for what it does. It also upgrades for free and has great customer support.
The best bit is that it pays for itself in no time at all.
Given that it's just an Access Db and simple front end you could always write a version yourself - at which point your appreciation for the price would probably change

$55... It may pay for itself for some (not me considering the limits I play), but considering how little time it took to make, its only that high because Im guessing there is nothing else on the market.

I disagree entirely, they could charge a lot more and sell fewer copies but make more cash.
And the time spent to make it (and keep it up to date) would not have been insignificant at all.

Hell... that's a very well done program with the auto import from various sites, the easy to search front end, the auto-rating of players... it does lots of things that I for one couldn't do with excel or access.

What do you disagree with? I agree that they could charge more.
On another note, does anyone think It's slightly suspicious that Poker Office sells at exactly the same price?

Why is that suspicious? Clearly $55 is the price that the market has settled at for poker data accumulation and analysis software.
If someone else developed a competing program, they'd probably price it about the same, or maybe a little less since they'd be trying to grab market share from established products (like $50, say).

As a software engineer for the last 15 years, I can honestly say that
"but considering how little time it took to make"
is a loaded and blind statement. I've made attempts at developing some poker software to replicate PT. And while I can say that I have no doubt I can do it better and cleaner, I can also freely appreciate how much time it takes because its not worth it to me to rewrite what already works and is widely accepted in the online poker community.
Software development isn't quite as easy as you think - especially considering the amount of features that PT implements. Granted it is a poorly designed application and isn't mounted on the greatest of platforms, but it is completely functional and the short time I used it, it works just fine. If you're serious about being on the winning side of poker and you need the crutch tool to improve your game then the $50 and change is a very good investment. Aside from that, you can find a few sites that will give you a free copy based on a deposit and playing enough raked hands - I got mine for free that way anyhow (because I'm tight/aggressive and cheap).
