Gotta read this.
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...D=#Post4533144
Short version
Guy needs money from Pacific poker for something property related but their cashouts take a week.
He tells them he lost a lot of money on other sites and he needs money quickly so he can cover his losses. Pacific permanently closes his account because he is a problem gambler and he still has to wait a week for his money.

That's just too funny.
As a person who has spent many years working customer service, I can tell you right now, you, as a customer, are not above the policy. The whole customer is always right, self-entitlement BS will get you nowhere.

I can sure see how that would suck, but it's proof that lying gets you no where. The lie didn't get him his money one minute faster and now he's banned from the site. It wasn't worth that. I do find it amazing that they would take that conversation and come to the conclusion that he was a big enough problem gambler to close his account though.lol

He says in his post though and is fully correct, that the prime reason for the delay in cash outs is to allow the withdrawal reverse option and encourage problem gamblers who get lucky one evening and decide to withdraw their winnings to pump it all back in the next day.
Eurobet is even kind enough to leave your money in their sports gambling account pending cash out should you need to use it there. I think it is absurd for a casino to even pretend to encourage sensible gambling, this is like a bookshop discouraging reading, or a crack dealer promoting sensible drug use - not going to happen.

they also do security checks.
if you think about it, haveing a problem gambler with money problems is not what the site wants. They are running a big risk or change backs.

If a site has it's fair share of problem gambler's, this equates with a large number of fish. A large number of fish in turn encourages good players to play at that site. This generates a lot of rake for the site.
If there were no problem gamblers then poker would die. If people place sensible limits on what they can lose, they will start thinking about wanting to make that money last, they will then play low limits and learn the game well. This will drastically cut into the profit of winning players and slowly knock marginal winning players into losing players, they will then quit.
You would be left with a lot of people playing low stakes with predefined budgets, and any edges would be minimal.

This I disagree with. Its not potential GA members that keep this thing alive, its the recreational player. They take a few hundy and go have some fun, and if they lose, they just don;t play for a few months until the feel lucky again. They don't care about Bankrolls and such. Some do eventually, and I can think of a couple peeps here that have followed that route. In fact most of probably have.
Wota, I think "the Psychology of POker" would be a good read for you.

Hmm.
I would imagine most people who go to play poker for fun lose more than they intend to, and many young single men wake up on Saturday/Sunday afternoon and think "**** why didn't I quit when I was ahead", "why did I carry on playing after my 8th beer" or something similar. They are not about to rob their grandmother to play poker or have a physical addiciton, but they are gambling and regretting it.

I, for one, happen to be refreshed by this story. I think it's good to see a poker site giving a fuck about something other than money and not wanting problem gamblers on their site, regardless of the rake brought in. Whether or not this guy is telling the truth is also a moot point. Pacific poker sucks, but I applaud them here
