the main difference about ring games and tournament is that chip stack is not a aspect of the game anymore.. so everything u do, every move u make has to be for value.. everytime u make a bet, a raise, a re-raise.. ask yourself? would this be something that would be profitable for me in the long run?
also in ring games u want to only play top notch cards, that is pocket pairs, AK AQ AJ A10 KQ KJ QJ... this way whenever u flop a pair, most likely it will be top pair! only play suited connectors if u know what u are doing, otherwise it will just be very costly for you in the long run.. and if u do play suited connectors i advise only 67s and up..
also, only bet the pot when u flop top pair or better... unless of course if u have middle pair and everyone checks it to you and the board isn't scary (but im sure u kno this already)..
also another tip for ring games: if a guy bets the potsize on the flop, it usually means he has TP or better.. so dont waste ur time playing bottom or middle pair when someone bets the pot before u do!
also keep in mind that at low limit holdem (5/10c 10/25c) limping in with pocket pairs 22 - tens, can be very profitable for you.. cuz chances are if u hit a set and someone hits top pair then u can pretty much win a shitload of money if the guy cant fold his TPTK
