Default Low limit tourneys=frustration

OK I'm new here. It seems that many people here play for quite a bit of money. I haven't been able to make that leap yet. So I'm asking people that may have more experience/money to play with. I've been playing for a year and a half on the $250 my wife let me open the account with. I normally play about 2-3hrs a day. I'm kinda stuck. . . .I'm getting very frustrated when play low buy tourneys $2.50-5.50. I somehow seem to always get someone that sucks me out chasing for inside straights or runner runner flushes. Is the play any better at the higher buy in tourneys? (I would imagine you still find stupid people that have lots of money) Or am I just destined for a life of frustration. I play at Pacific and I've heard that you can get a lot of bad beats by bad players there. Any other sites/strategies anyone would recommend?
Thanks for your help.

if you're looking for tourneys, pokerstars is the place to go.

yes, the play is better when you play slightly higher buyin tourneys, but it is also tougher. I've played on pacific and really just hated it.

just curious, how much of the $250 do you have left?

pacific=shit. go to ps for tourny and sng. the players are tighter so it is easier for avoiding suckouts. also UB and FillTilt are rocky sites. plus all 3 have better interface/graphics imo than pasific.

if you cant beat those tourneys, you need to improve your game.

you can't play text book poker in large online tourneys. you have to learn to use the your opponents weaknesses against them.

Just think that every 1 pot that someone sucks out on you as a 4 - 1 underdog, you are somewhere winning 3 pots that you wouldn't be winning against players who do not try and suck out.

Just do not try to bluff poor players and let them chase draws against the odds. If you are a winning player you will win long term, and if you are not then moving up will not make you any better.

just think of it this way, you have AA or KK make 3.5bb raise and 6ppl call. Or go all in with KK only to bust 7/10 times to A4. This is why he dosnt like pacific.

I like to control the pot size against weak opponents. Instead of betting the pot or 1.5 X the pot, I bet half to 2/3 the pot (or less with no draws out). This makes them calling a mistake... while still leaving you folding equity when they DO draw out on ya. This drastically improved my results in small buy-in tourneys.

Thanks for the responses. . . . .I've still got over $250 in my account (thanks to a recent 3rd out of 978 in a $1 tourney) but I get frustrated mostly when I play lower limit sng's. I play pretty tight and play probably half or a third of the amount of hands as many of my opponents. I usually raise 2-3 x's BB when I get a hand. When I hit the flop I bet half-whole pot(again depending on my hand strength). So many times players call and I get sucked out by some idiot with low/mid pair catching a trips or 2 pair or runner runner suits for a flush. Maybe I'm just hitting a "low patch" and things will even out soon. I seem to have some success playing $10 PL ring game but I enjoy playing in the sng's. Maybe I'm stupid and the sng's are for suckers over time.

Ring and Tournaments are different, in ring you are simply looking for +ev situations, in tournaments a 5-1 shot at 10-1 money might be +ev but its going to lose you tournaments.
