Default Nov Bluff magazine - Make $28.00/hr playing poker?

I was thumbing through the November issue of Bluff magazine and I saw an article that claimed you could consistently make $28.00 an hour playing poker in Vegas.

Here's the basic idea:

You play the low blind tables. He suggested the $2/$5 games. His premise is that, in low blind games, having a huge stack of chips isn't strength. He says having a lot of chips is weakness. Unless you're a top tier player. And top tier players won't be playing the $2/$5 tables in Vegas.

Then he asks "What is the only move a pro would make with a short stack?" He says a pro would wait until he had A-A, K-K, Q-Q or A-K, then he'd go all in. So that becomes the ENTIRE strategy - wait until you have one of those starting hands, then go all in.

He gives an example of buying in to a game with $140.00. You blind down to $120.00 or so until you get one of those four hands, then go all in. If no one calls you, you might pick up $40.00, so now you're up $20.00, right? And if someone DOES call you with, say, K-J suited, then you'll win anyway and now you've doubled your stack. Then you cash in, go across the street and do it all over again.

Simple money management, right? He says he tested this "system" extensively on computer, then went and played five days a week for seven months and averaged over $28.00 an hour. He also says another guy made $20,000.00 in just five months working this system in his spare time.

Now guys, I know BUGGER ALL about poker, but my BS detector was ringing like Ozzy Ozborne's "Hell's Bells" as I was reading this. I figure all it will take is a copy of Poker Academy and a few hours of my time to test this out, but I wanted to get your feedback.

Have any of you seen this article? And does it sound like total BS to you?

nice theory..it might even work off-line where the tables are softer BUT in A real game

1] the blinds would kill you
2] no-one would call you -

it sounds like complete nonsense, and certainly doesn't inspire me to purchase the november issue of bluff magazine

Bluff magazine is trash. I get most of these magazines free in the cardrooms in Vegas and the only ones worth anything are Card Player (of course) and All-In. The rest of these will be gone in a year.

1] the blinds would kill you
YES

2] no-one would call you

NO

I think there are 1326 hands, 6 ways to make each pair, 16 ways for AK.

That is only 2.5% playable hands. figure roughly 1 hand in 50 is playable, you will blind of 35$ waiting for a hand to play. You will play about 1 hand ever 1.5 to 2 hours. FUN!

Didn't Sklansky talk about teaching someone who never played poker before to go all in with Aces and Kings in the Main Event? I think it was in the Tournament Poker book

lol, if nobody ever calls you there, you will LOSE 28 bucks an hour on just blinds. To break even, you'd have to get called at least 1/4 of the time.

Oddly enough... I actually think there is a good chance that you WOULD get called at least 1/4 of the time in a lot of these games. I'd like to know how long he tried it though to make $28 an hour live
