On Saturday I played the $850 satellite where 1 out of every 10 get the Bahamas package at the Atlantis and get the $5500 buyin for the CPC through Partypoker. I qualified for it by playing a $99 buyin where the top 12 out of 127 got the $850 seat last Wednesday night.
So on Saturday it's 54 players. Top 5 get the package and 6th gets $1600 as a decent consolation prize. A lot of the "so called" great online players from the pocketfives site bought in at the last moment, so I knew that it would be a tough field, but I liked my chances.
After playing my ass off it gets down to 6 of us!!!! Cool, I am 3rd in chips and mathematically I have about an 83% chance of going to the Bahamas and playing on TV and making enough money to retire - lol. To make a long story short, the shortstacks went allin and got called 4 different times. Twice the allin shortstack won a coinflip and the other two times the shortack went in as a 3 to 1 fav and it held up. Then I am 5th in chips and the blinds are 1500 - 750 and I'm at 6,100 in chips and it gets folded around to me in the SB. I have A7s and it's allin to increase my stack by about 35%. BB thinks about it forever (his nick is iluvmyaceking) and he finally calls with AQ and I don't improve and have to settle for $1600 which really sucks considering how cool playing for millions in the bahamas would be.
However, I did play the $99 satellite again last night. Top 8 get a $850 seat for Saturday out of 76 players and I came in the top 8 and get to play for the package again on Saturday. If anyone is logged in on Saturday it's at 1 PM central. Hopefully, I will get in this time!!!
