Read Harrington on Holdem and got worse
I had always seemed to do decent in MTT and STT overall i was making money. i read Harrington on Holdem 1 about 2 weeks ago and since then ive been absolutely terrible, i cant money not even in STT. I guess this is really a rant at myself to blow off steam. Im starting HH2 maybe that will help a little (not neccesary what it says because i know it for late game) but maybe will help me focus harder on my play

I don't like HoH for SnGs. I think you need to play much tighter in most SnGs.

i read it too. but havnt applied it to sng b/c i dont need to improve. (well i could win 100% instead of 99% but if it aint broken dont fix it). but for MTT it looks good. havnt tried it yet b/c i only play MTT when i get enough points for free buy in, but i may apply his strategy today for UB's 28k guarantee if i decide to play. only if the overley is 5-6k ill play it.
but dont just screw your previous strategy and just do harringtons, kind of ease into it i would imagine.

I am surprised by this. I have been able to drastically improve my results by utilizing the concepts laid out in HOH. I predominantly play SNG's and find it applicable.
I understand that it is probably MORE applicable in MTT's where things have a chance to play out over a longer period of time, but I feel it works just as well in SNG's.
The only modifications I make for SNG's is that I put less importance on some of the drawing hands to a monster......suited connectors etc. The reason for this is that I try to avoid hands that have me limping and check/folding because of the premium on chips in SNG's. With more time and larger stacks (Deep stack tourneys) these hands rise in importance IMO.
I suggest you stick it out. Re-read and make sure you are not mis-applying some of the concepts. I have re-read each volume at least 4 times, and pick up something that I had overlooked each time. This is probably because my perpsective has changed over time as my game has improved.
I think the examples in this book are first rate and help you to see what the right play is, as well as seeing the consequences of those mistakes.
I can't wait for the 3rd volume to come out.

kinda a pompuos statement there, no room for improvement huh?
And its ONLY aimed at MTT's. So trying to apply it elsewhere, it won't be effective.

surf.....its meant for both, some concepts from vol I dont work as great for SNG's since they apply to high m scenarios.
Have you read vol ii? SNG's quickly deteriorate to low M scenarios which vol II covers in depth.
Stick with it.

im just started volume 2 and i might be breaking out of my slump, came in 4th (no money) 2nd and 3rd in last 3 SnGs but most importantly i felt like i played very well in both my monies. I can see that my low M play needs alot of help so this should be a good read for me.
