The State of Online Poker
What do you guys think the future of online poker is? With what happened with Pokershare, and Pokerchamps getting bought out, what do you think online poker will be like in 1-5 years? Do you think it will be as big, bigger, or slow down?

I've been involved in markets that have grown rapidly and the rule of thumb is that the faster they grow - the shorter they live..
However..gambling is a human obsession I think theres still some way to go in terms of growth ..but it will level off at a high level.
I think of snooker - a game that was televised seriously about 20 years ago - it still gets a substantial audience .
People like playing cards- they always have. It has been estimated that the game which has been most played over the last decade is "solitare"- that free game microsoft issue.
Poker is here to stay - as it has been for over a centuary. The online version, when augmented with tv coverage and the ability for anyone to have a go.. is a killer...

Are you kidding? With all the geeky white kids out there who could never make glory in any professional sport and primarily spend their time playing video games to supplement their bruised egos - online poker has limitless potential.
It's the marriage of glory and couch potato video games - it will dominate the world. Uh, at least as soon as they all get internet access.
Seriously though, I think there's going to be a wave of consolidation in the online poker rooms - and I think it's going to be bad for players who live off bonus whoring. Less competition means a worse deal for the consumer, always.

Hehehe! I can believe that! My best mate, about 5 or 6 years ago he got a PC for the first time. He'd never had one, didn't know the first thing about em. But his bro set up this old PC for him, and showed him a couple of things...the free microsoft games for one...well my mate had a game of solitaire and just got sucked in, he got hooked. Before he knew where he was, it was six hours later, he'd been sitting up all night playing that damn game, and for the entire six hours, he sat with his right hand on the mouse, his left elbow on the table, chin in his hand, staring at the screen.
He gave himself a trapped nerve in his left arm cos of all the position and pressure on his elbow...it caused him all sorts of pain and grief....had to wait nearly three years for an operation on the NHS to get it fixed!!!

True, true, true, especially the first paragraph (which sadly decribed me well). If/when poker starts to wain in terms of massive online money players/tv rating, I will be most interested in looking back and seeing who placed highly against the throngs of thousands the most consistently, and reading their books/listen to their insights on poker very carefully. That's why I am trying to get my hands on Harrington's books. Two straight WSOP ME final tables in this day? Wow.

Hmmm, yeah. I am tired of this guy. He posts these stupid one line questions and then never responds again just to get his website name out.
