    Default 7 Card Stud

Anyone here play stud? I'm learning in a trial by fire playing the hi/lo free roll that was up today. I sucked early on and lost all my chips cuz I didn't know what I was doing, then had to go all in twice and won both times. First time with the lowest straight A-5 wheel second time with lucky flush on seventh card and low card 7., i'm down to 845 and antes are eating me alive.

Anyway stud seems like a fun game and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about it. What's better regular stud or hi/lo? Anyone know starting hand odds, like what are the odds to hit trips right off the bat? What about to hit trip aces right away? Any general tips on playing? Thanks.

Just lost the rest of my stack while writing this playing trip deuces to the river, guy hit the flush on his last card .

Regular stud is alot harder for me then hi/lo

But hi/lo you dont really win alot on an average hand because you split the pot. Like it seems you just won a nice amount of chips but really your stack didnt go up much. Unless ofcourse its like 3+ ppl in the pot with nice raises etc. In hi/lo I dont usually go for high cards, unless i get pair of kings/aces right away, or triple lower card. Ace and 2 cards below 5 are good to go for me. But ofcourse thats from my amazing freeroll experience.

It seems to me, if the odds are reasonable, playing stud for money you just wait for trips and ride em to the river. Will they hold most of the time? That's why I wanna know odds for trips as well .

I've actually started to take a great interest in Stud. I play on the play money tables when i have time to get accustomed to it. I especially like Stud H/L. I hope to play it in the future once I get down the concepts better.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. - PF

    H/L stud is my specialty

The trick is to just always shoot for low, because a low hand can transform into a high hand, while a high hand cannot transform into a low hand. So with the exception of trips, split or hidden Aces or Kings, never start with three cards that aren't under 8 and have straight or flush possibility. My starting hands are (other than split/hidden aces or kings and trip) three cards under 7 to a straight and 3 cards under 8 to a flush. If you don't catch on 4th, you can still call and take a card on 5th. If yu miss both 4th and 5th, you an just fold. Pretty much all there is to it

nomanner ur a complete idiot uve posted bout 3 things that i have totally disagreed wit n they dont even make sense. for instance raising wit 27 to KNOCK OUT THE BAD HANDS. still dont understand that one anyway dont take this personally plz i dont wanna start a fight but ur advice isnt too good.

im a much better stud player than nlhe. i won a $1 tourney n most of the time im playing stud ring n if a stud s/g is full i always do well in that. my most basic strat is to play very tight n raise wen u have a hand.

ur not supposed to raise wit a drawing hand like 3 to a flush/straight but i like to raise unless its a full table playing the hand i will jus call. cuz at the limits u guys will b playing $1-3 tournies/freerolls/.04/.08 there r many idiots who call no matter wat they have. so i jus raise because 1 it knocks out the really bad hands 2 u will help ur hand wen u raise n they will still call wen u got a great hand 3 if ur hand doesnt get helped u will have a scary hand showing sometimes n cuz u raised u must have it.
so basically im raising wit either a pair or a draw n it works well at this limit.

u should know all the odds u need for this already if u play hold em. u dont need to kno how often u start wit trips its pretty rare. i suggest jus betting/raising every chance u get. even wit q44 or sumtin its not the best hand but u can knock out the completely bad hands n have like 2 or 3 callers then its easy to kno if u got the best hand or not.

i cant really give anymore general advice that would really help anyone but if u got sumtin specific ill try n answer it

I never said raise with a drawing hand, I said those are easy starting hands that you can just paly if you're clueless. Raise with Q44? This might work against idiots but it's a strat that's gunna screw you in the long run and are you even talking about H/L stud or just normal stud? Why will it screw you in the long run?

And as for raising on the penny tables, I don't give a shit about losing pennies, you can try your expert "strategies" on the penny tables and win your big $3. Penny poker is a joke and if you're going to knock my play for my "strat" at the penny tables, you can go fuck yourself, you're a retard, the strat didn't mean anything, and it's just a suggestion. Maniacs win every once in a while and when they win, they win big, and playing like a maniac is the only real way to make any amount of money on the penny tables outside of having a conplete idiot who doesn't know the rules of the game throw money at you. You also didn't even bother to read the rest of the strat and that's the only part you ever repeat. I am going to repeat what I said before, they'll call ANYTHING after they see you raise with 27. So you lose .04 to win more later. Long term thinking, you should try it.

My advice for new players playing H/L 7stud is to just stick to 3 low cards, 3 to a straight or flush and they are guaranteed to make money. If you'd like to argue with this statement, go out and do some reading dumbass, you're not going to find anyone who disagrees with me, good players really only play hands (on a full table btw, with less people the starting hands change, and i think you're arguing for a table with a smaller number of people) that are capable of winning both high and low.

I'm sure with your vast $1-3 playing experience and .04/.08 limits you're entitled to call me an idiot on this one too, heads up H/L stud $10 kid, you up for it?

    Or holdem for that matter
