after reading the replys u got on the other forum -not a very pleasant bunch are they?
as i already said earlier in this thread, i think that a lot of what they said may have been true although dont think i woulda went down the mud slinging road and the belittleing of something that i really dont understand. To me their opinions seemed very....well dont think i will say as im trying to be a good boy today.
bottom line is that you should go for whatever makes you (and of course your family) the happiest in life and dont look back in ten years time and wonder bout what might have been....

Heh yeah I don't even want to go into about them at that other site. They are a cool bunch when they want to be, but they can't be a bit well themselves for lack of better words. I plan on making sure my family is taken care first and foremost.
But as I said I do what pleases me. I remember taking a few IT courses in the Army that my commander made me take that I didn't have to pay one red cent for (A+, Network+, MCSE etc). And I passed each course with great grades. But after doing it I realize computers was not where I wanted to be, even though I could of took the cert test and got my certs.
People called me an idiot and said why didn't I, I said what for if I knew it wasn't for me? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should just because it something someone else may enjoy or think you should do.

Good do what pleases you. What makes you happy, if coming to a town near us then go for it. Don't let the negative people get you down just because they are afraid for whatever reasons that what decisions you make will be wrong, they aren't living your life, you are. Let them be miserable.

Even though I LOVE my job, my boss is great, and I can come and go as I please as long as the work is done, but still something irks me about it. I get paid quite well, but knowing that this isn't my passion, and yet I sit here day in and day out doing it is hell to me.

Keep in mind that I'm aware of my short comings. I'm also very happy with my life. We do live week to week and my retirement fund isn't as big as I would like (at age 32 you start worring about stuff like that ). However, I work to live, not live to work. I've done my partying, I've seen the world (half of it anyway). I've done a lot of really cool things and I'm glad for all the experiences. Now I take comfort and happiness in my family and I live for the time I get to spend with them.
Yes, I dream of winning the WSOP ME. I also dream of winning the lottery. The only difference is I play poker.

Oh I hope I didn't come off wrong by saying I don't have those short comings, as a player who wants to be in the WSOP I am sure you are taking care of those short comings My own retirement fund (started at 19) is coming along nicely I am 27 now, I had a lot of down time in the army, while other's were playing online computer games to pass the time I learned about investing, started my Roth Ira at 19, contribute 166.00 a month to it. Which max my contributions for the year each year.

If you believe that you are meant to do something and really want to do it, I say go for it. I couldn't think of anything better than do something that you love for the rest of your life. You have to be willing to fail in order to succeed and if you never try you will never know if you could do it.

You didn't come off wrong, I just didn't want people thinking that I was a bitter old man for not following my dreams as it were. I'm well aware of dreams that are dreams for dreams sake and dreams that are attainable. That's why I point out my shortcomings (and I only pointed out a couple when there are many). I can dream of winning the WSOP, but for me that last quote is quite true. I dream of winning the lottery also, I just don't play it.

Well I still say go for the Wsop if you want to man. I mean this year it was how many players? 5000 or so or more? I made it to a final table more than once with 2400 people in a tournament, I know you can do it. I am going for the WSOP next year though.
