I have never, NEVER seen anyone call for this ruling and I see it all the time even in the WPT and WSOP events

if you watch the WPT events you will constantly see them putting 20 chips in their hand saying "raise" then putting 16 in the pot and pulling 4 back or even going back for more.

Because of the varying bet amounts these rules are difficult if not impossible to enforce

Most places it isn't binding but I've been at the woods at a 1/2 NL tbl and some dick did it to this poor girl who was obviously new to the casino cash game world and the pit boss made it binding. This was not this summer but the last one. Other than this incident I've never seen it called out or upheld, and who knows the woods could be wrong...they're wrong every time I step up to the blackjack table and the dealer wins, rat bastards live casino blackjack is rigged

the floor will usually make the ruling that causes the least disturbance.

Who would have made a bigger stink if the ruling went against them? the young girl? or the dick? hence the ruling in favor of the dick

Any real grey area with rules will usually bring about this type of ruling. thats why when you see pro's arguing about controversial things on TV they look like asses, they know the ruling will usually go to the person make the biggest stink.

Thats a very good point and I never even thought of it that way, you're absolutely correct. I think the real lesson here is don't rush your chips into the pot, and make sure action is on you. Allow all players before you to commit themselves and try not to show everyone you have a big hand by rushing all of your chips into the pot. And one thing I like to do (which is a dick move) is to not pretend not to pay attention to whats going on and waiting for the dealer to actually tell me action is on me, but I compensate them with good consistant tipping for this.
