If you're lucky you can with the WSOP and become a huge celebrity. That appeals to me for some reason.

I'd take brilliant since you are guaranteed success since it is a skill game

but couldn't you become a huge celebrity making 3 or 4 final table's of a WPT event because of your skill?

No one's guaranteed success in poker. Don't kid yourself.

Let me put it this way. I've never seen anyone win a tournament without luck... but without skill, it's been done.

I mean... obviously, I'd rather have both than either, but if I had to choose, I'd take the luck.

By the way, an event only has one final table. No one's brilliant enough to make 3 final tables in one event.

No amount of skill can ever overcome really good luck.

I'd rather have consistant luck than brilliant skill...luck bets skill in poker time after time....example:

I just busted out of a tourney in 11th, (i.e. the worst possible place, no money, but 90 minutes of work)...

I had AJ middle position, made a small raise, got reraised, and BB reraised again...I fold as AJ is probably no good with two reraises...BB and other player go all-in one flips over AK, the other QQ...board comes down AJx...and another J on the river...if i was stupid i could have trusted luck and trippled up.

About 10 hands later i get AK, raise, get reraised...call, flop comes Axx, i go all in, other guy calls and flips over AJ, river is J...and i lose...
