I think the most surprising entrants into this event are some of the pros (they are obviously heavily backed, but it's got to be tough in the current poker economy to secure $1,000,000 in backing). Guys like Andrew Robl, Noah Schwartz, and so on must be playing for less than 10% of themselves, and JRB said he is playing for 1%, the backers have a lot on the line.

This is one aspect of these big high profile tourneys that intrigues me. Would like to know who is being staked, by who, and for how much.
Do players who are heavily staked feel as much pressure as those playing with their own money? Seems to me that would be different with each player. Some may feel more pressure.
In general I have more respect for players that are putting their own money on the line. That's what poker is about, money, in fact money is the essence of poker! Take the money out and you have nothing. So is it eiesier to play with you own money or with someone elses money? In general I would say it's easier with someone elses! Especially for that class of pro (or semi pro) player that has achieved the status of "Poker Celebrity". Now I'm not saying that these players don't feel pressure to do well. But generly speaking they are under less pressure than the players that have put up their own hard earned money.
That is why I may have less respect for a poker celeb in a tourney than that player who is putting their own money on the line. Of course there isn't a way to really know who is staked and for how much, except to assume that the more famous the player the higher they are likely staked. Thus I wish there was more discloser on this than there is.Club Site bluegaragepoker.com

Staking is very pro-backer nowadays, and usually every deal involves makeup of some sort. So a guy like JRB gets bought in and has only 1% of himself, where a guy like Andrew Robl probably has between 10% and 20% BUT is likely in makeup for some amount if he doesn't cash... Of course Guy Laliberte could have bought multiple players in to make the tournament bigger and to have more big name players in it. In these cases the players are liekyl just on a freeroll for about 10-20% of anything they make

seems like half the field are business men such as ruffin just joining for the hell of it. This tourney can def be +ev if you have hte roll. I am pretty sure lots of players were tying to sell pieces and shares in order to get into it

I think Guy laliberte shouldn't be playing so small I'm sure he has well over 50 buy-ins

Shoud be a really good one to watch the dynamics for a good game are there. I think the pros who got staked will be taking it seriously -I also think that they should not join unless they are staked as putting large portions of your bankroll into a tourney buy in where variance due to guys like Laliberte playing is going to be high.
