Yesterday I was playing the empire £30+5 Bounty tournament starting stack 5000 chips. I have about 4500 chips at my disposal. It is the second level and blinds are 50-100 I am in the cutoff. A guy opens with a 2.5x raise to 250 from middle position, I wake up with AKo, now I have position on him but I dont want to price the blinds into a call and see a mul...tiway pot with a premium hand like AK so I reraise to 750 the table folds round to the original raiser who thinks and then flat calls my 750 three-bet. The flop comes 5-Q-K rainbow, jackpot I am holding top pair top kicker. He checks to me and I bet out for a 2/3 pot bet of 1000 chips in to a pot of 1650, he re-raises me fairly quickly to 2500. In this situation I have already committed 1750 into the pot and have about 2500 behind, so 40% of my stack is committed, I tank it, I cannot see how my hand is good here in the face of that raise, after going through possible combinations I figure that his most likely holding is QK, I guess QQ he would shove or four-bet preflop - but not always, it is possible, 55 he would fold to my reraise generally but if he's fishy he may call a reraise and set mine with 20% of his stack, AA is a possibility for sure but QK fits the bill for the hand perfectly he doesnt want to see any straight possibilities come out and he does right to raise my bet on the flop. After tanking for a while and almost folding I shove, he snaps and his KQ 2 pair hold up to bust me. In the face of it its hard to get away from top pair, top kicker, especially not knowing the player and also in this structure when starting stacks arent so deep and there isnt much room to manouver, I put him on QK clearly and weirdly I wanted to call to confirm my suspicions. Any thoughts?
