    Being that he's an allin maniac, I would call, otherwise it's a fold.

    The break even point of a call is "Bet / (Bet + Pot)".
    -Pot here is 1660. 160(Flop) + 40(Bet) + 40(Bet) + 1420(His effective bet against you)
    -The bet is 1420 (The amount of the the bet can call)
    1420/(1660+1420) --> 1420(3280) --> 43.9%

    So you must win 43.9% to be break even from a cEV standpoint. In a tournament, cEV doesn't quite equal $ev due to ICM, but it's close enough if you're not at the bubble. As the saying goes "The amount of chips you lose in a tournament are worth more than the amount you win".

    The break even point calculation is outa my league. I'm much more general in that I weigh up roughly what its going to cost me and given my read on my opponent is it a good idea to fold or call.

    And normally I would fold and think "damn it they've hit trips".

    Though I find these flops more difficult to play when I'm sitting on an over pair.

    I woudln't have called there. Its different for everyone. I wouldn't wanna bust on a bad read, very possible for them having a 7 for being that aggressive. I'd let them have my 40 and wait for a better spot.

    I do that pre flop now. Folded KK preflop to an early shove with cheap blinds just not wanting to risk my chips

    Fold KK preflop? Insanity!

    Sorry, I WAY overcomplicated the calculating thing. Here's a different example...
    Say you're calling a bet of $1, and the final pot will be $3. That means you need to win at least 1/3 of the time to win.
