    Question Running a tournament

Anyone have any leads or advice on running a tournament? Specifically, I am curious about establishing blind structure and managing rebuys and standby players wanting to enter the game when there is an empty seat.

    A) If the tournament has X number of players (or tables) and will last for Y hours, how to set up the blinds and for how long? How much should they start with?

    B) If the group wants to allow two rebuys... how to manage that? Should they be able to rebuy the entire starting amount or only up to the starting amount? Must the player have certain amount of chips or less to be eligible to rebuy?

    C) If the group expects some players to be late in signing up and they go on a standby list to take the place of a knocked out player, how should that be managed?

I would think that B) and C) are related in that rebuys should only be allowed for a certain period into the tournament and that new players should only be allowed to enter the game up to a certain point as the blinds would likely be too high for a new player after the game is in progress a while.

I am particularly interested in A) blind structure. Is there some formula or algorithm that considers the number of players, the starting amount, and the duration of the tournament that provides a recommended blind structure? Obviously a four hour tournament for 27 players would be different form a five hour tournament with 54 players... but how, exactly?
