    Default Having trouble with freerolls

    hey guys this is my first post and am a very novice poker player.

    Ive read some online guides on freeroll poker games and understand the general strategy that people have written about.

    Basically i fold fold fold and fold again till I hit a pocket or something Asuited down to Q10 depending on position and how im feeling on the day.

    The past 5 freerolls ive played ive been on insane tables where 2-3 people are raising all in pre flop basically meaning I lose my BB and SM not willing to call all in on 9-5 unsuited.

    Basically I end up calling ALL IN on AK suited twice AA once KK once and KQ suited.

    All 5 times I lose to shitty players going on all on hands like J-6 unsuited.

    So basically Do i jsut have to play the odds and wait for them to go in my favour?

    Generally I can last about an hour or 2 but I hear people who can make the money everytime and just wonder if some luck is invovled.

    Cheers!

    Pretty much this. In freerolls it's pretty easy to get yourself in situations where you're >65% equity. But you still have to keep winning for long stretches or you'll get knocked out. One lost allin will knock you out or cripple you.
    Lets say you have a string of 75% favorites, what are the chances of winning them consecutively.
    1W = 75%
    2W = 56.25%
    3W = 42.18%
    4W = 31.64%
    5W = 23.73%
    6W = 17.79%
    7W = 13.34%
    8W = 10.01% Ick...

    MTT's can often have you navigating huge player fields, and it's pretty typical to have to be allin for your stack very often. As you can see with 8 Allins your percentage of winning quickly diminishes, and only gets worse from there. It takes tens of thousands of games to show your true win/lose rate.
    Even when you move into the cash games, people still do stupid stuff, and you will still lose to suckouts. Luckily in cash games you can start using fold equity, which will really increase the amount of times you cash.

    After being a big freeroll player though, I don't think playing freerolls will increase your skill much.

    I was doing really well on a freeroll the other night. And then I was told to "get off the fucking computer".

    On another note, luck plays some part in winning, though don't be making whacky calls or moves thinking Lady Luck will bail you out. To qoute Jason Mercier, "Lady Luck likes to hang with those who practice the hardest."
