I really should know this but in a small live game last night a row broke out because no one could agree on a winning hand.
the hand was J d 8 d 7 d 4 d 2 d (flush)
1 player held 6d 8 C
and the other player held 6c 9s
Was this a split pot???

No! Why on earth would that be a split pot? He has a diamond in his hand bigger then the 2d on the board... Come on now.

You would get a split if the table showed otherwise - e.g. Ad Jd Td 8d 7d. Because the five highest cards of the flush lies on the table and are thus the same for all players, you get a split.
In your example, as already stated, you don't.
