please tell me what you think proper bankroll management means and ask yourself if you truly, from the bottom of your heart STICK TO IT... i mean, the occasional shot while on a heater is totally OK in my opinion, but what are people's views on bankroll management? how many MAX buy in's should one have for heads up, six max, FR games, sngs, and mtts... i will post my answer after some others do... i want to also so that i do not claim to be a pro, BUT i am a winning cash game player on many sites, so i think my input is very nitty, because before i got nitty, i would load a few hundred and off the the plo HU tables i went, only to scratch my head wondering how this donkey just broke me... then after enough times i decided to stick to proper BRM, and have not looked back....

HU/MTT = 100bi's
FR/6Max/SNG's = 20bi's
Obviously more buy-ins are better the higher you move up.
I stick to it pretty religiously, moving up when I have 25bi's for the next stake, dropping down if I dip below 18bi's.

I've only got experience with low limit cash games and I agree with the BRM rules that KnightofNarg recommends. You might want to have a few more BI's for 6-max than FR as it can be a bit more swingy. I also feel that BRM is a lot about personal preferences. Having a nitty BRM can help you to not play scared money as the loss does not seem that devastating if you only loses 1/20 of your bankroll rather than 1/12.

Never once have i stuck to it...
I make huge cashouts and i have huge downswings where i lose 100BI;s at big limits...
Actually i remember one time where i stuck to good strong BRM... i was playing NL10. had about 1200 in my account so i was way over rolled... simply because i grinded at the NL10 on 6 tables for a few hours a day(still learning) and took 500 to 1200... within about 1-2months...
But, after that i got a bit of an ego and since then have never gone back to BRM, but im taking a break from online and going to restart a fresh on NL50 HUPoker: Am I still gambling if I have the nuts?

so ya its good to see that players on here really stick to BRM.... its honestly IMO, THE ONLY WAY TO WIN at poker long term.... i personally, play .25/.50 limit o8, stud 8, and lhe.... i have about 450 bankroll on stars, i have money on a bunch of sites, but i do not count all of them as one br for some reason lol... so ya i have about 450 on stars (which is DEF enough to move up to .50/1) i just beat this level soooo bad that i feel that there is just no reason to move up at this time... well, the only reason i am thinking about moving up is to reach goldstar this month lol and yes, narn, i do feel you should have a bit more for 6 months as well.......

I once played with the help of bankroll in a re-buy tournament where in a minimum of 1 re-buy and 1 add-on and multiplying it with the buy in by 3. Let's say I played in a $3 re-buy on FT, I must have a minimum of $900 bankroll (Where in: $3 for re-buy x 3 for add-on x 1 buy-in = $900).
