Interesting post.

ONLINE
What I do is go to a NL $1-$2 or $0.5-$1 10 seater table with around $50-$70 expecting my stack to equal the 7th player's stack. You get the picture, it's enough to make a stand with.

I then have a rule that if I lose it I quit for the night. This gives me the discipline not to fool around. I will play it very carefully and wait for the opportunity to double up. It will come if you can get to see flops cheaply. Just wait.

I carry on until I suffer a couple of bad beats (inevitably) - then cash out for the night. However with the couple of bad beats, I am careful to (try and) limit my losses (and wins) to still remain ahead. So I am managing my chip pile profitably.

I figure that the sites will not spot me because I am playing anonomously (and small enough) enough not to raise their antenna. Call this paranoid - but I have a healthy disrespect for internet poker.

OK the bottom line is how am I doing? I have lost several $50 over a six month period. I am up $500 overall. Big deal huh?

I play to keep my game sharp enough for the live tourneys I like to play. Practice and learn from others. Key to success.

Steve

Are we sure this isn't an example of ST's tongue-in-cheek humor being directed somewhere? I missed the post over at PP (I maybe peek into those forums once every three weeks now...just too much noise-to-topic now.)

the funny thing is, I check em out once a week and there are maybe 3 or 4 new threads in each section, at the most 2 that catch my interest.

Shade, Stephen Terry has always felt that online poker was rigged.

By not being spotted - he is referring to them not hitting him with the "fairness policy", not getting targetted for bad beats.

I am about 98% sure it is not tounge-in-cheeck, and he has had a long history of this, but this is the worst.

Apparantly england gets it bottled water from Michiga Militia Springs.

The fairness policy? this is the worst idea i have ever heard on how sites are rigged.

Poker is a long term game hence the fairness policy affects everyone indiscriminatly, no need to target individuals. Jeez Stephen, get a grip. A seasoned pro should understand how the "fairness policy" works

I don't remember him thinking online poker was rigged, but I do remember that he likes his beers with a fork and knife and that he likes his beer.

Hasn't S.Terry been playing on Ladbrokes for years?

Anyway, from all of his advice, I'd say that his insight on tournament poker is top notch, but he doesn't grasp cash games and I'm thinking that he doesn't have the patience for the monotony, but does for the short marathon.

I wish he'd come back here as he always brought up great tourney discussion and we've had more tourney discussion as of late.

Yeah he played at ladbrokes, but he was alway talking about how they dealt too many high cards, and juiced the deck. He got into the net a little later than us though, he plays a lot of small PLH tourneys live.
