when you watch a poker show do you want to see him on it? my answer is always yes, just to simply laugh at his embarrassing behaviour. He is also a very good tourney player, so i enjoy watching that and in cash games, like High Stake Poker season 1, he can play awfully..and then behaves like a baby which is hilarious. The hand v Negreanu where Phil check called 3 streets with A4 on the A high board is just great tv.

    Cheers buddy!

You have to admit that his WSOP:ME blowup against the guy who was playing the exact hand he was bluffing was one of the funniest things ever tho.

Hellmuth kinda plays to the camera. I remember seeing video of Hellmuth getting bad beats before the "2004 poker boom" and all he would do was moan/rant under his breath.

Fast forward a few years later and it lights, camera, action Phil!

This is exactly why Hellmuth goes deep and wins so many tournaments filled with weak players. His behavior gets in people's heads and people make terrible play after terrible play against him which is one of the ways he accumulates chips. There is the ocassional suckout that takes a big chunk out of his stack (2004 ME: PH moves in with AK preflop and gets called by KJ?! and the amateus hits a J on the river), but he makes it up when people keep trying to out-flop him or out-draw him and they miss.

This is also one of the reasons why he doesn't do so well when he plays against the top players. He can't get in their heads.
