When chasing draws, i ussually look for 3 to 1 odds on both straight and flush draws,

I will call a 3 to 1 on the flop and then 3 to 1 pot odds on the turn aswell
should i really be chasing only 6 to 1 shots? or what i have a feeling this could be a big leak!

if you're not chasing draws based on break even pot odds (5:1 for an OESD, 4:1 for a flush draw) then you're chasing draws based on pot odds+implied odds. implied odds are dependant on your opponent, as well as the board.

I'm confused by the OP, maybe post a specific hand as an example?

What you should be doing is evaluating your equity vs the range of your opponent and then comparing that to odds you're being offered as well as factors such as how likely they are to fold if you semi-bluff raise or how likely they are to fire again if you hit your draw (implied odds) or also the chances of you drawing dead anyway.

i ussually like a check raise on a draw if its heads up and the guy isnt a calling station, but it looks like have been calling the wrong odds!
I thought it was 34% so 3 to 1 of making a flush by the river so ive been calling 3 to 1 on the flop and then 3 to 1 on the turn! eg 90 dollar pot he bets 30 i call then, 140 dollar pot on the turn he bets 46 dollars and i call again ect just for an example.

ill get a hand up in the hand anyalsis later on

thanks for the help guys.

Well I could be misunderstanding you but just something to remember its almost never right to call a gutshot straight draw the odds are just too long. I seem to remember it being about 1:40 or 44 correct me if I'm wrong guys as I probably am. Of course if you are facing a timid opponent a big bet to get him/her to fold is the right move in my opinion.

yeah bluff you are wrong its a common misconception, you hit gutshots roughly 50% of the time.

that # is for full ring tables of course, pretty sure it's closer to 70% at 6max.

To find out your odds, just count all unknown cards. That is 52 minus your 2 hole cards, and the 3 board cards, for a total of 47 (52-5=47).

4 cards make your gutshot straight, so it's 47/4 or about 12:1.

11.75 to be precise I think. But that's the odds of making it by the river from the flop.
