Default Sng Tracking

Ok, pokerchamps just opened up their Sng's and I have played in for 10 dollar buy in's, top 3 pay out I have come in 4th 2nd 2nd 1st, I want to know what the best way to keep track of this in maybe excel form, to see what is more profitable, playing in those or sticking to me .50/1 nl tables.

You can do something like this:

Result Profit

3/9 +$14 5 Outer
5/9 -$22
6/9 -$22
4/9 -$22 5 Outer
4/9 -$22 2 Outer
9/9 -$22 AK vs JJ
3/9 +$14
6/9 -$22 Runner Runner
8/9 -$22 AK vs 4T
2/9 +$32 Guy sucked on me many times head's up
7/9 -$22 Lost with best hand in vs Maniac
2/9 +$32 Guy chases a tiny flush draw for entire stack to river.. I cursed a lot after that one
5/9 -$22 Insanity
1/9 +$68 To be honest, I was only paying minimal attention as I was looking up pictures of apartments, but I didn't get lucky either.
1/9 +$68 Hmm.. didn't pay attention until 5 handed.. hehe, luck was a LITTLE on my side near the end.. nothing great..
2/9 +$32 Runner Runner.. ARGH
1/9 +$68 Very interesting one.. played almost entire sng on pure instinct.. GREAT run.. 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st all in a row!
2/9 +$32 Made kinda stupid play head's up..
5/9 -$22 Very cold cards, then lost KJ to KQ, thought he was afraid of the straight on the end.. I thought wrong :P
6/9 -$22
6/9 -$22 No cards
1/9 +$68 Had to play very very hard and intensive head's up game.. so happy, as now I break even for the day!
2/9 +$32 3 outtered...
8/9 -$22 QQ vs AKo all-in PF.. me tight image early position all-in.. oh well
2/9 +$32 Kinda funny... me push with Kxo, him AA :P
6/9 -$22
3/9 +$14 Rivered, but I perhaps slowplayed too long..
8/9 -$22 Crazy maniacs multiway all-in
3/9 +$14 Went 3-handed for 1 hour, seriously.
5/9 -$22 Made a bad mistake
4/9 -$22 Bubbled.. Lost many coinflips
1/9 +$68
2/9 +$32 Went for quite a while head's up.. I made a mistake near the end..
3/9 +$14
1/9 +$68 Kinda crazy.. lots of bad beats, I took some, and gave some..
5/9 -$22 TT vs AA
3/9 +$14 Got drawn out so many times
5/9 -$22
5/9 -$22 Lots of bad luck.
7/9 -$22 2 outer
9/9 -$22 top pair + 6 outer and flush draw on flop, call an all-in.. miss..
3/9 +$14 3 outered.. God has to punish me because I'm too good and it's unfair to other players...
3/9 +$14
9/9 -$22 Brain Fart..
6/9 -$22 15 outs.. missed
1/9 +$68
7/9 -$22
8/9 -$22
7/9 -$22 I missed a laydown
5/9 -$22 Maniacs
9/9 -$22 KK vs AQo - I give up.. poker's too hard
8/9 -$22 River
2/9 +$32 3 outtered
----------------------

53 +$184

$284/(46x$22=$1012)=28.1% ROI

To calculate ROI, You take Profit/Cost, where profit is Payouts-Cost (including fees).

ROI (return on investment) is 162/(18*22)=162/396=40.1%!

I use Excel to track My MTT's and SNG's. I used to use it for Ring games, but ever since I got PokerTracker, thats what I use now.

EDIT: Kid, to be honest, thats a real pain in the ass to do that by hand. MY excell sheet does all the calculations and such. It figures out my $/hr instantly for me. Which is what I think we are looking for here to compare win rates.

I cant upload my excel sheet, PM your email and I'll drop you a copy of it.

never tried this but, what if you did the trial version of PT and added each tourney+s/g into PT and deleted the hands but just kept the results so you can figure out your roi? lol

edit: reason for deleting hands is because trial only allows you to have 1k hands so i was thinking you can do it for free. again this is just a shot in the dark lol

yep if you want another example of a very (kind of compulsively) detailed excel sheet used for both ring games and sngs, message me and i'll email you mine.

OK Let the battle of Excel Spreadsheets begin. This is just something I've been messing with for a ayear or so, and so there are some computed entries that just dont make sense, just ignore them. (Remember my Required Bank Roll equation that flopped? 1/(ITMxROI), well its on there, again just ignore it.) The rest is very spiffy.

Just alter the first few entries to suit your entry without changing anyt of the formula boxes. Then to create you next entry, just copy paste an old one to the next open line. This carries all the formulas down with it.

EDIT: Ok as soon as I can figure out a way to either get it under 200k (its around 450k) or Kid lifts the size restraint, I can get it up.

um ok so here's mine...i just started it recently after i started playing a lot again and i went on a run so it looks like my roi is really high but in reality i deleted the end of the spreadsheet, both because it is too long and you get the picture and also because i started losing a lot (bad day yesterday) and i really didn't want to post that online

other notes...the withdrawal thingie was just a couple of cash transers to a friend who paid me in cash to get him started, but you could use those for your normal withdrawals. under the eclipsed minutes segment, the ones with stars mean the one adjacent to them with a number of minutes was played at the same time (i suck at multi tabling).

hope this helps some!

It's not that hard.

Columns:
A: Session #
B: Site
C: place
D: buy-in
E: reward
F: E/D

At the bottom of B and C, you keep your sums and the bottom E cell will be your ROI. I keep all notes in a private blog online with a session #.

Spreadsheets:

A: Main
B: OL (Online) NLHE
C: OL LHE
D: OL PLO
E: Misc. OL $$$
F: SnG
G: MTT's
H: BM NLHE
I: BM LHE
J: BM PLO
K: BM mixed
L: Misc. BM $$$

I'd post it, but I use Quattro, not XL. The .qls conversion to .xls is a bit screwy, so if you use Corel Office, I'll email it to you.

EDIT: I thought it looked weird. I forgot about Session #.

I don't really like looking at total profit. As long as my ROI is >20%, I'm fine. That my main focus and PT gives me a good feel for my gameplay, where I'm at and where I'm going, but to hit your question bbquicks, I'd like to know:

A.) Why you're playing poker
B.) Your BR
C.) How much experience you have.

It would be great if you were honest in the thread, but if you prefer to PM me, I'll reply and give a more general answer here. If you post your reply here, I'll get detailed here.
