Default The "Kennel Club" Poker Room :)

Well, I ventured in this poker room.... and it's really weird.

They have tournaments all week long, it's $32 + $13 (they have to charge so much because they knock out half of the poker room for the tournament, and they take a TON of rake). I am going to play in one this morning, but other than that, for hold'em they have $1 blind for 1 person, you can raise $1 up to $2 at any time, with 3 total raises max per betting round.

It's a weird structure. Sometimes people put in "Straddles" which is $2 BB, and it is optional. It's kind of stupid in my opinion, but it's how they do it. In the beginning of the day yesterday I had some bad beats to a guy who was obviously a regular there and played purely for profit. He always goes on draws-- beating my trips with a straight on the river, beating top 2 pair with a flush on the river, beating my top 2 pair with hidden trips... dunno just some bad beats.

But then I took down a glorious pot I get A-J, everything is bet to the max before it even gets to me. I say "what the hell" and play, because A-J is a decent hand, but I know if just an ace fell i'd be in trouble. Luckily enough, here's the flop: 10h-Qd-Kh. I was quite the happy camper. So it's re-raised to the max with like 5 people playing. I'm shitting a brick hoping to god the flush doesnt fall, a Jack or Ace doesnt fall, or a 10, Q, or K falls. I know some have 2 pair, some are on straights, some are on flushes. River comes 2c, so max re-raise. River comes 9h, I'm like fuck ass mother fuck fuck, I only had $1 left and no one bet so I said F* it and threw it in. No one had a friggen flush, they all had open ended straights with a J, lol. All I can say is lol. I took down a $103 pot (biggest pot of the night), which brought me to even.

It's weird, they take like $1 chip every $10 that is bet... they take in a TON of rake, but there are so many business men that go there and throw away their money to the regulars. I'm going to regular there I think

I am off today to play in a tournament then play the ring and win some money. Wish me luck!!

Here's a link to the poker room, doesnt explain much: http://www.pbkennelclub.com/PokerRoom.asp

Woo!! off i go!

The regular ring play blows, it's pure luck. EVeryone calls everything, unless u got the nuts u got no chance. The tournament was okay, 100 people, 1500 chips. Blinds go like this 25/50;50/100;75/150;100/200;200/400, etc.

Every 20 minutes. It moved kinda quickly... I brought my stack to 2700 but then lost to a kicker, making myself only 1900 chips. Then the 200/400 blinds just ate at me, finally i had 1100 left, went all in with AQo when guy with 1000 went all in ahead of me with KJo, but a guy on the BB had KK and won, knocking us out.

I think I played well except for the kicker... I shoulda seen it coming. I did some good bluffs and won some decent pots I'm definetely going back, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday is NL Hold'em tourney, Wednesday is 7card stud. Monday/Wednesday are morning tourneys, Tuesday/Thursday are tournies at start at 6:30.

There are some good players, I'm definetely able to compete and I should be making a good number of final table appearances.

You'd be very suprised how many people there play online poker. Guy I met plays Tournaments on PP, this dealer plays NL Hold'em tournaments for any stakes on Empirepoker.com

Was pretty cool Just wish the structure was a little more sound, but I'm definetely going back for more tournaments.

It's split to the top 10, #1 gets 26%, then it goes down accordingly.

Meh, it was fun. I was +50 on the Limit tables, and tournament cost $45, and my sandwhich cost 4.75 (its a big, mean sandwhich with a nice pickel!!), so I guess gas cost like .75, so im even!!!

It's not stupid when they make TONS OF MONEY on rake. It's like $1 every 10-15 bucks, and literally every hand is that much. When they knock out half their poker room for the tournament, they have to make money on it. $13x100 = $1300 from the tournament. They could probably make more renting out those 10 tables they reserve.

I think its a little much, but if you think about it then it does make sense.

Default My NOT SO HUMBLE Opinion

Turkey lunch meat sucks.. Only if its real turkey ( like left-over from thanksgiving) does it make a good sandwhich.

Sandwhich master
Respect bitches~~

i actually really think turkey from thanksgiving is revolting. Mostly because i got a stomach virus from it and threw up for 4 days straight. Ever since then, apple-pie and turkey i hate. I still like lunch meat turkey tho. Not when it's dry tho
