Default Your thoughts please.

New here first post. I just recently started playing poker and seem to have come across a interesting "question".

Is there some unspoken rule about checking down to the river to take out a low stack all in player? Last night I had Ace King Suited. Raised prior to the flop. Low stack went all in to call. Another player also called. On the flop I got nothing. I raised just to try and shake off the other player. She called again. I checked she checked. Turn card I raised again. She hesitated then folded. River I got nothing. Low stack also had Ace King. We split our pot and I took the side pot from the other player.

After the hand I got an ear full (Like she was my F'ing mother) from the other player telling me she had a pair. She said I was obligated to check down to the river or fold and let her take the good size side pot we had as well as take out the low stack player. I'm sorry but if there is a really good size side pot then I'm going to try to win that over losing and letting another player take out the low stacked player and take chip lead away from me. Plus how was I supposed to know if I had either one of them beat.

Please give me your opinion. Thanks

When on the bubble, or in the money, it is often in both your best interests to check it down improving your ods of eliminating someone. However, if not ITM then there is no need to check down.

BY suggesting you are obligated to check-it-down, she is suggesting colusion, which is cheating. So she is wrong. Texas holem is not a team game and you are welcome to play your cards any which way you want.

Bluffing into a dry sidepot is considered rude. If you do this you will most often get a fair amount of bitching from several people at the table. However Ping is right, you can play your cards however you like.
