How to divide chips for tournement play?

So I'm having my first poker tourney tonight, and I have 100's 50's 10's 5's and 1's in terms of chips. And if each player starts with $2000 how should I split this up with the available chips I have?
Also what is the general rule for this, if there is one?

This is what I use, but I add a 500 chip to make starting stacks 1500. The blind structure works out well with those stacks.
