Does anyone know what seats the early, middle and late position respectively refers to? I am reading a book and get confused .The book only gave an example of 10-player table to illustrate them. But how about 9-player table, 8-, 7-, 6,5- or even 4-, 3-player table? Is there a specific definition?

for a 6max table, SB is the direct left of the button and is early position, then BB, also early, then UTG (under the gun) is early position, UTG+1 is mid, and CO (cut off) is mid/late, and of course the button is late.


it's really pretty easy to tell. take the number of players you are playing with and divide them into 2 groups and you got it.

of course in 6max, being in early position is not as much of a disadvantage as it is at a 9 person table, just because there are less people acting behind you.

Sometimes the seat before CO is called HJ (hijack sp?).
