Default AKs vs Late Postion Raiser - Analyze

Yet another hand I just played that we can analyze step by step.

I had a tight image. I had been folded a lot. Folding almost all my hands in the blinds especially.

Hold'em - 15:01:50 ET - 2007/01/10
Seat 1: PokerxPro ($50)
Seat 2: Hamudi ($49.25)
Seat 3: jlong116 ($11.30), is sitting out
Seat 4: lucky529 ($45)
Seat 5: Viscant ($69.30)
Seat 6: JDPriest ($46.75)
PokerxPro posts the small blind of $0.25
Hamudi posts the big blind of $0.50
The button is in seat #6
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to PokerxPro [Kc Ac]
lucky529 folds
Viscant raises to $1.75
JDPriest has 15 seconds left to act
JDPriest folds
jlong116 has returned
PokerxPro raises to $6
Hamudi folds
Viscant calls $4.25
*** FLOP *** [7c 4c Js]

Flop gives me two over cards + nut flush draw.

Tell me what you would do next and why?

if your image dictates premium hands, then i would raise regaurdless on the flop. at the very least you are semi-bluffing, but you might have the best hand right there. you would get away with this pot if you raise on the flop. if he had any High PP he would pushed back preflop.

I could either check/call or check/raise or check/fold here, I chose to check/raise:

*** FLOP *** [7c 4c Js]
PokerxPro checks
Viscant bets $8
PokerxPro raises to $22
Viscant raises t o $63.30, and is all in

Opponent re-raises all in. What to do now ?

You have pot commited yourself. Call.

Bet and 3bet all in if raised as rebel suggested is a better line to take.

I often do exactly that - bet out and 3bet all in in these situations..probably about 90% of the time.

However, in order to vary my play, I like to C/R here or even C/R all in.

So, I guess the question is, is it always better to just bet out and 3bet all in?
if so , why?

b/3b is way better because of the stack sizes...at the time you get your chips in the pot, you want it to be a pot sized push so that you can have some fold equity. if your push is an overbet, you'll only get called by sets which is bad, and if your push is too small compared to the pot, you won't have much fold equity at all.

c/r is good when you have a 40ish bb stack, because then you can just stick it all in and put villain in a tough spot. in this hand it's bad though because you are left with 44 bucks which villain sticks in for you. at this point, you are pot committed to calling, but now you know you have no fold equity, which is why it's better to be the one making the push rather than calling a push. also, what if villain had flat called your raise, and the turn was a blank and he pushed? you would have to fold, but you'd only have your on poor play to blame for getting you driven out of that pot.
