Default Lessons to be learned from my first live tournament

Finally I got to play my first live tournament starting with 56 players £30 buy in.

Made some solid plays - folded JJ in the face of KK after the flop.
Won with 66 when one player was bluffing as if he had an ace after the flop.
Folded 77 in the face of AA pre flop to a loose player after I had raised him pre flop.

I felt I was having a great game, although not really going to make the prizes, but positive with these calls.

Then disaster struck.

With 4 players in the hand I sat holding K8 clubs. Flop came showing red 8Q3 with 2 diamonds to the flush. It checks round first time, turn a 2, no flush.

First to act I all in as short stack needing to treble up here ... all fold with the last player deliberating ... then calling.

He turns over red 86 with no flush draw ... great I'm way ahead until I turn over my K6 of clubs, going out 18th.

Damn .. mis read my cards and now kicking myself all over the living room.

Still great first time out ... I'm definitely gonna get them next time.

I had a friend whose pocket aces turned out to be A4o.

At that point, he decided to leave the ring game and get some sleep (about 5am).

Reading a player correctly and not knowing that you read him correctly is another bummer - well not in this case.

My first live Casino tourney was about 5 weeks ago in AC Borgatta. About 125 entrants. During one hand I had pocket QQ. I did raise 3xbb but still had 2 callers. The flop had A x x. One guy moved all-in and the second guy folds.

This was my first critical moment in a live tournament because someone was challenging me big time and I could look across the table and stare him down. I stared at him and saw him change all kinds of colors, then pale. I knew then he had an Ace in the hole. My first real read. I was right.
I said to him, I know you have an ace but a Q is coming. I called. He had an ace. Q came on the turn and I knocked him out of the tourney.

That was sick.

I hate when that happens. I looked down see a K, then look at my next card, and get excited only to realize it's a 4
