Default Hole card rank

Does anyone know how to calculate the value of hole cards? I would like to program my own holdem calculator and need some direction on the formulas used in these calculations.

Thanks

add the value of the cards (face cards and aces =10). then devide this by two. that is base value. now if it is suited, do basevalue x (1.2), if they are connecting add .1 to the sum.

so

AK suited = 20x1.2+.1= good value etc...

So ALL combinations of J,Q,K,A (with your math), not considering suit or connectors, are considered to be equal in value.... I don't think so.

Next please....

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Maybe you could explain your objective a little better. Anyway, here's a link to a spreadsheet of all starting hands and their "Equity %" vs. x number of random hands, seen down to the river.

http://www.pokerforums.org/showpost....2&postcount=30

Maybe that will help you get started.

Gder is on the right track but he forgot to divide by Pi.

The actual equation is:
If A = hole card # 1 and B = hole card # 2 then:
(A + B) / Pi x 1.2 (if suited) + 0.1 (if connected.)

close but no cigar.

sqrt(A + B) (if unpaired otherwise A) / Pi x 1.2 (if suited) + 0.1 (if connected.)

If you have aces, multiply the above by 1.1321594 (the 'bullet' number)

Theres no difference between price and value over a long period of time.

AA and KK are the only two hole cards worth more than the blinds.

Your hole cards mean very little in NL - it's your opponents, position, rep and post flop play that determine your win rate.

for one player KJ can be a loser over a hundred thousand hands.. for another player it can be (statistically rigorous) a winner....

In limit there are well known starting charts but even these get modified to table..

If you want to learn poker - put a sticket note over your cards on the screen and play blind... you will progress much faster

my appolagies, I use a primetive strategy (also mainly for 10 handed games). the formulas MR.MacdaddyJ and DaFishizzle used are much more modern and advanced. so if you can crunch the numbers fast, by al means use their forumulas.

Don't feel bad. I've never done anything like that with starting hand blind formulas.

Q: Why doesn't an Ace=11, gder?
