Default Heads-Up SnGs. Whats the plan?

I tried playing a few of these last night, $33 ones and won 6/10. Not a bad start!

Does anyone else play these on a regular basis? If so what strategy do you go for?

I think, as both of you have about 50BBs you don't need to mess about or be too agresive in the early stages. Hopefuly with this sitting tight at the begining, your oponent will think he can push you around and start raising with trash and then you can pick him off with a good hand.

Thoughts/Ideas?

I like the aggro monkey style. Raising every button is a good strategy if you ask me.

usually play the opposite of the person i'm playing. if they're limping a lot i'll raise consistently. if they're very aggressive i'll flat call with premium hands and try and trap them.

Do you guys think that the variance is more or less in this sort of game?

Obviously you still get bad beats but because you are playing a lot more hands I think you will dish out a fair few too, agree?

Pretty much.

Early on, you just don't wanna get too committed to pots and be willing to keep them small. A little bit of trial and error will map out your attack plan at little investment. A lot of people like to go for the big KO (and I don't play these much, maybe 5 a week on Stars), but that doesn't work because there's no reason to play huge pots with someone you don't know what gonna make them play that big pot. (Did that make sense?)

These are great and a ton of fun. If you REALLY wanna learn heads-up, play on Prima for cash. I like to play about 4-6 hours a week. I learn more pattern mapping in myself and others there than anywhere else. They have really cheap tables. Very, very worth it.

Do consider the rake you're paying in a low limit heads up cash game though. It's pretty damn brutal to say the least.

The rake's like 50c a pot and it's NL, not limit.

Well, 50c a pot is $50 per 100 contested hands.

Honestly, once the ~$800 gets in the middle, I don't give a fuck what Prima's takin'. I just reload if I get down to $325 or so.
