Rake is a killer heads up. You need to have a significant edge (or 80% rakeback) to make it profitable.

I once played $500NL heads up for about 20 hands. Myself and my opponent had both lost around $20 so I quit.

Whilst this is an interesting discussion about rake, if you look at the title I was talking about SnGs.

I have noticed from the leaderboard on Sharkscope that the biggest earners tend to play high limit heads up sngs so I fancied giving it a try. For example the leader on sharkscope only has an 8% ROI but as he has invested over $3,000,000 he has made over $240,000. He tends to play a lot of $1000 or $2000 + heads up SnGs.

I'm finding that you can play loads of them and therefore get your investment up quickly which I think is the key to winning on-line.

I have currently played 20 $33 ones and won 12 for a $60 profit. Mind you I have been hitting a lot of flops! I think I'll give that "play opposite to the other guy" technique a try tonight.

Any other suggestions????

the same could be said about the buy in tho. i know from experience, albeit on the cheaper heads up sng's that you need to be winning about 55-60% of games to break even.

actually that's a very good point, I have noticed that if you play 11 $33 SnGs, win 6 and loose 5 you actually lose $3

Still the point was more about strategy rather than rake so anyone else got thoughts on how to play these?

I'm not familiar with other people on the forum's HU play, but I play a lot and if you want me to rail, I'll do it if you hit me up on AIM. Av8tor009 consistently pwns people HU and that's a great choice to have on your rail. He never gets pwnd. He applies t33h pwnage.
