Default Player names

Do the names that players choose, affect your view of their table image?

I'm not suggesting that radical re-evaluation of how to play a hand is in order if you are heads up against "I_0wnzyou" but when choosing where to sit in SnGs I always sit to the left of the guy with the most stupid name.

It seems to be a successful strategy in the long run as very few "good" players seem to have daft names (though I've seen a couple of exceptions).

I'm currently sitting to the left of "BigDickB", I'll let you know if it pays off.

Absolutely not. For example, my name is grannie76 on Full Tilt.. don't fall into the trap of 'reading' names.

Nothing wrong with grannie76

grannie75 on the other hand...

It's the one's that are either sexual "I8pussie" or boasts "bustuall", "n3verfold" that give me pause for thought.

Probably nothing in it and after choosing where to sit, I let their play speak for them. But if you are lucky enough to get a fool to your right in a SnG it can make a big difference so any clue might be worth following.

Agreed. I try to take their money every time.

The other clue is in the icons... people with slightly less stupid names can still be tipped off my their pornstar/pot leaf icon.

However, I don't try to get these people on my right. I look for someone I've played with in the past, and see if I have any notes on their aggression. I always want the aggressive players on my right and the tight ones on my left, and as far as I know, the names/icons can't really tell me anything about their style.

Okay...so showing once and for all that I'm too old for this board (as well as undoubtedly providing someone with a moment of priceless humor today)...would someone care to tip me to the significance of 420?

I'm still young enough to appreciate the significance of 69

420 = police code for marijuana

4:20 = the time every pothead thinks is the best time of day to smoke

Absurd to say the least, since everyone knows 6:00 is the best time to smoke SHEEEZZ!!!
