Why did you raise PF?

I don't mind the PF raise as a way to mix up the game, but I would overbet it a bit. I would also bet at least 3/4 of the pot on that flop.

That turn raise sucks.

I HATE open limping preflop, except I probly should use it more.

I believe that you have to just call pre-flop. Its just 88, you play them for set value, the game is loose so:

1) You will still get at least 3-way action unless you raise a lot.

2) You will get paid with a check-raise if an 8 hits.

Here i am sure you are beat, he probably has an overpair. Even if he doesnt, he bets hard and he has a lot of chips, so its too risky to call/raise. You will find a better spot to bust him.

The pf raise represents a slightly stronger hand, and the flop was as good as you could hope for without making the set.

I've increased the amount I bet in these situations (low overpair, or low TPTK) to consider what I would be prepared to bet on the turn if a small flop bet was called. And instead of waiting for the turn I add it to my flop bet.

If it doesn't work (ie I don't win it on the flop) I usually walk away from it.
