Default Awful night

Put in enough money for 20 buyins for mirco STT games previously been having an okish run, around 13% ROI being my lowest...till now.

After 15 STTs im currently £11 down (£13 left), this is lowest ive ever been. How do i work around it??

I know i played badly towards the end, should have quit and rest earlier than i did tonight, but most of it was at the beginning with awful luck, number of straights/trips/flushs ive lost due to people holding out to the river is inconcievable.

Usually i play tightly, but for some reason i loosened up, even before the bad run. I tried getting my head together and playing tight again but still no luck.

I feel confident that i can come back from this, but its obviously going to be very slow going as i now can only afford 10STTs buyins.

2 general questions
1) You hold best hand possible on the flop, although u can be beat on turn or river if some1 holds out, how hard to u generally push? How often would u go allin in this situation, usually only see flops if im holding combination of A K Q or JJ

2) if ur major chip leader with about 6/10 ppl left, do u loosen up or tighten up? I like to loosen up a fair amount once im ITM, but never sure which to do with a couple more people left, and advice would be great, i know i have to come otu of this bad run

I can answer #1 (thank you Sklansky/Miller and NL Theory and Practice)!

You need to bet low enough to get them to call, but at the same time still high enough to deny them the correct implied/pot odds.

For example, let's say that they are on a FD and you have TPTK. There is 100 dollars in the pot, each of you has equal'ish stacks. They are roughly about 4-1 to make their flush. So you should bet enough that they are getting about 3.5-1 on their money, meaning they make a mistake and you still make money!

So if their is 100 in the pot you need to bet about 40 dollars (making the pot 140, giving them pot odds of 3.5-1).

If I'm chip leader with 6 out of 10 people left, I'm still playing just as tight, and letting them throw chips at each other. Once we get to bubble, I play more aggro and steal the blinds frequently.

Obviously you have to loosen up as more players bust, but you dont't want to play too loose.

I feel that's not quite correct. This would be correct strategy if you were 100% certain of your opponents holdings and were going to fold to even a minimum bet on river.

In reality if you always fold to any sized bet when a flush card hits river, opponents will soon pick up on this and bluff you out of a lot of pots.

On some boards, they may be able to call on straight draw and bluff flush card or vice versa, meaning that even if the odds of them making their hand are 4.2-1, you actually will see a scare card on river more frequently than that and how will you play?

In my opinion you should bet around 2/3 of the pot when you feel opponents are drawing to flush. You want them to make a significant mistake in my opinion.

Your correct wota, I pulled that equation out of the book where you KNOW your opponents hand.

I am still learning this whole NL thing very slowly.
