A mate got me into playing about a year ago. Deposited $20 into VC and went for the 0.02-0.04 NL holdem cash games. After months of up and down (generally cos i didn't know what i was doing) i read some books and started gettin better. Currently up to about a 4k bankroll but left VC (cos, well, its crap) and now doing some bonus whoring here and there.

I miss being a donk though, they have so much fun, hitting spawny draws and not really knowing how annoyed the other guy gets whilst not really caring when you lose (cos you didn't even know you were that far ahead), ahh the days!

I started playing the $1 STTs and have worked up to playing the $22s now. I've just recently started to play the cash games to add that string to my bow as it's a very different style of play. The only way to go is to start off small and build your role, along with your skills! Only move up as and when you are confident and able to afford it.

I started by playing SNG's and built my roll up around $400 or so, then I moved to NL Ring and got wiped out. I have since transitioned to limit and began at .10/.20 with a roll around $200 or so. I am now up to .50/1 sitting around $470.

This is really more hobby than anything else for me. I play on my commute to work, and on the occasional evening when the stars align (wife and kids go to bed early).

I play about 2000 -2500 hands a month, and make a small profit....about 4 BB's/100. My goal is to keep on working roll up to the point where I am able to clear 300-400 a month while commuting to work. I need to get up a few more levels first.......Averaging about 60/month right now......so what is that? 5 times this level? somewhere around 3/6 will be a nice place to get to. Give me a year (as long as Uncle Sam doesn't get in my way)

I lost that one since I had a party account already. I took them up on a free $20 and a 20% bonus on 1st deposit as a boost before paradise. You know where I am going next. But 1st I have to clear about 200 more hands so you get credit for your referal.

i lost 3 $200 deposits.
then reloaded a final $200 (now armed with knowlage of proper br mannagment)

worked that up to about 600 (properly)
sent 400 home so i wasnt in the hole a ton (600 was ALOT to me back then)

restarted with 200, worked it to like $1000 via sngs
cashed out 500. started playing ring games (.15 .25 to start) got to like 3000 or so and then switched over to pokerstars (for no apparent reason)

now i have worked 200 to about 1000 on stars, and im not looking back, my goal by the end of the summer is to have the bankroll for at LEAST $200 nl (i hit a bad run and im teetering around 100/50 nl right now.) so i can 4 table that and start making GOOD money during college. hopefully i can build up a very big roll by the end of school and decide if i want to keep playing poker for a living. either way i want to have made enough money to have a good start in life. imo thats a very achieveable goal.
