Sick scam, who wants in?
Basically this is the plan, we cobble together some half assed poker software that has NLHE cash games and tournaments ( play money only during beta obviously ), we put on a lot of small value freerolls to attract a lot of testers/players.
Heres the scam: We store all the usernames, passwords, names, addresses and email addresses.
Once we have over a thousand or so victims we shut down - citing a saturated market, and get to work trying to login to their email addresses and other poker sites with their usernames and passwords to try and steal money.
Ok so I was joking about "who wants in", but I could personally code a respectable looking client inside a week, how long is it before a scam of this type hits online poker?

most people who go to sign up for the freerolls are going to be noobs with little or no money in online poker! on the other hand a market is only flooded until you find a niche

can't see your scam working. How are you going to log on to peoples accounts, you would require their username and password for the other sites, which you haven't got. Also how would you actually steal the money? you can only withdraw to a payout method that you have used to deposit to the account (at most sites anyway) so you would just withdraw their money to their own bank account or credit card.
Plus you then have the fact that your IP address would be recorded as the one that took the money and you are therefore traceable. Even if it wasn't traceable from that route you would have to withdraw the money to somewhere and that would be traceable.
Can't see any scam of this type working. I like your thinking tho, let me know when you have a fool proof plan and i'm in

Most people use the same passwords for all of their accounts.
You get their pasword you can probably access their email account which would contain unspoilt riches of Poker account details, saved Neteller/Bank account details etc.
I bet even if Kid[ReD] was so inclined he could check through this site for people who post hand historys to obtaIn their poker site screennames and try the password they use to log on here to attempt to log in.
He would get some success I am sure.

don't most people download their emails from a server and store them on their local PC, therefore you wouldn't be able to view the emails. Unless they use something like hotmail where it's stored remotely.
Your probably right about the same password thing tho. I think I use the passwords assigned by the poker rooms so I'm ok. Good luck with it tho.

Only if this was a 'fake' vbulletin - as all the passwords are encrypted.

Some users do have different passwords, but there really are a lot out there who always use the same, not to get it all mixed up. Perhaps, different usernames, but same passwords.
As for tracing you using your same IP address, you could fix a dial up connection which assigns you a different IP address every time you go online.
Why am I giving advice though? I donīt at all want this to happen
