Default How Software affects Online Games

Over the past year I would say I have at one time or another played at pretty much every major online network.

There are some major differences in how the software is set up as to what the most convenient option is at NL cash games.

For example some sites include a "bet pot" option preflop which would give a standard opening raise of 3.5bb, whilst others do not leading to people having to select their own size.

Most sites have a raise in advance button which is always the min raise.

Some sites set the bet size to pot unless altered, others set it to min bet unless altered.

I haven't collected any data, and don't even have any solid thoughts, but has anyone else thought how these type of things can affect how much action you get in a game?

Sites with a bet pot button are a little harder to beat because it lets donks size their bets correctly.

Ther cryptos have an all-in button... it is very dangerous multi-tabling

On a couple of occassions I launched $200 plus into a pot with something like 53 os. It's kind of exciting - of course the action is quickly followed by comments about not being able to play post flop as everyone puts down thier KK/QQ etc......

I have that problem on Prima.
In going from typing my bet to pushing the bet button I often end up sliding the cash bar along and open raising for $80 or something.

Gryff, do you not also fel that the bet pot button overcommits fish with fairly weak holdings. E.g they may have JT and bet pot on J high flop, pot again on turn and before you know it they are almost commited. Whereas if they didn't use bet pot button they would perhaps bet 1/2 pot and find it easier to get away when the raise comes in.

I'm a fan of the tribeca system myself. hot keys (which should be on EVERY site by the way, hint hint ) let you play easier and quicker but (for anyone who hasn't played VC, doyle's room etc.) they let you bet 2x,4x,8,16x the pot or max (all in) which has alot of advantages. firstly you can be sure that the fish will use these buttons all the time and can usually "guess" the exact bet they will put in if they are acting after you. it also allows you to push a hand very quickly which (in some cases) can intimidate people who aren't paying attention. I've so far played Absolute, Stars and VC (most of the time spent there) and much preferred the VC software.

I HATE the slider bar for betting. It is so fiddly and i just don't see the point! You never know on stars how long someone is thinking about betting cos they might be messing about for ages trying to get the right amount on the slider.

Absolute have got a hot key for all-in which worries me cos if i'm multitabling i don't want to accidentally push the wrong hand. I'm with xxdemexx on the excitement factor though, i once tried to bet $20 on a bottom pair bluff and then changed my mind going for $10 (or what i thought was $10) and looked on in horror as $120 flashed up on the screen. the guy thought about it for AGES as well, thankfully he folded though.

in my experience.. when theres a bet pot button (on UB), people tend to only use it on the flop..
turn and river, they usually bet another amount.

I agree with eclips. It seems the pre-flop raiser usually auto-bets the pot. The thing I like about that feature is you can hit it as a continuation bet and if someone bets in front of you it unchecks it. I use it in PLO a lot on Party
