Asians are light and darkness. They're either crazy gamb00lers or they never play a hand.

Default Bodog Moving Their Conference

I heard today that Bodog will be moving and postposing their big conference they have been planning. They say they don't want the poker legal stuff to interupt. I thought this was interesting.

The only asians with money to gamble live in the US, sorry

As far as online poker being illegal. This is a misconception. It is such a grey area that it is frankly impossible to fall under any current law. The wire act was written before the internet, pretty hard to incorporate the internet into it. As of now, noone has been arrested for playing online poker and I don't see a nationwide sting to arrest 500,000 poker players being pulled off anytime soon.

The US has many laws that are not enforceable or authorities look the other way. Ever heard of someone being arrested for betting with a bookie? Or, an 18 year old being arrested for having a beer? Online gambling will be one of these, "who gives a shit" laws.

Right now, that's what it is. I hear PSA's from the gov't all the time stating this.

But gambling isn't a punishable offense. Promoting it is and not claiming winnings on your taxes are, but not the act of gambling itself.

Found out today about this from a member of another forum i belong to and its more of the same for players in the US.

B2B POKER EXCLUDES AMERICAN PLAYERS FROM NETWORK
All american players will be excluded from all gaming services provided by B2B poker network. The reason for this is the ambiguous legal situation regarding gambling on the Internet in the US,where authorities have taken legal action against certain gaming companies. The decision will come into force on September 1st 2006.

This is not good as there are 72 rooms on this network and they had some of the best and softest deposit bonuses around for the bonus hunter ring game players and some of the best room specific freerolls for the freeroll junkies with very small fields on some of the B2B sites. Not sure how many here play on B2B but regardless this is bad news for US players.

I can only wonder what is next.Hopefully not the Crypto sites that also have a large European player base and a small percentage of US players. This law might not be anything in terms of enforcement even if it were to pass but if the networks start shutting down to US players we might be left with only the biggest 4 or 5 rooms to play at in the future. Not so good news for many.
