Default Moaning in chat, does it affect you?

Last night I was in a $15+1.50 STT fairly early on when I was dealt KK, I made a 4xBB raise (about 180 chips), which 1 guy called before villian raises to 620. I figured he might have AA (I had no reads) but I had more chips than him so I re-raise all-in the other guy gets out of the way and villian calls.

He shows AK and of course catches the A on the flop, but the poker goods obviously felt they had given me enough punishment already this week and I hit a flush on the river to take him out.

Now in the chat he says "are you f*****g serious"

I reply, that he only had 1 live card pre-flop and was lucky to get his ace in the first place.

To which he starts ranting. We have a bit of a moan and a rant at each other and then I realise about 4 or 5 hands have gone by and I have barely looked at my cards, all because this bloke annoyed me because of his pissing and moaning when it was his own fault for going crazy with a drawing hand.

Luckily I went on to finish second getting my ATs beaten by K2o heads up (I'm not bitter).

Does anyone else get involved in arguments in the chat and do you find it affects your game?

This could be the only child in me, but why explain yourself to him? You don't have to explain yourself to anyone that doesn't have the authority over you about anything. Let him think you're bad. Big deal. There's one less person in the world that likes you. One less person that respects you. Big deal.

Let him think that you have no reason for doing what you do. That's a way to make extra money. You've got someone wrapped around your finger and you're unwrapping him.

At the poker table, people are sub-human objects to be taken advantage of. That's their purpose.

Talking

I had a moan about this the other day.

If they're offensive i don't like it, but table banter i don't mind at all.

I usually agree with the guys talking about how bad I play. "Yeah, I'm new to poker and don't really know how to play but I'm trying at least!"

Chat doesn't bother me at all usually.. I did get into a pissing match with a very well known player last night after I made a bad read and caught KKK to crack AA and a T30K pot and he wasnt even in the hand.. In the long run he was the only one that got affected by all the ranting... I just tune it out, but I do use it to get at certain people if they show a tendency to be affected, why not do it if it gives me an edge???

I went the "Shhhh.. I'm busy stacking chips at the moment" route on him and he went fucking OFF!!!!

I usually just laugh it off. When someone bitches at me when i beat them in a hand I tend to just laugh and bait them into bitching at me some more. The worse i can get them tilting the better.

I hardly ever look at the chat box, I'm usually multitabling so I generally don't read or type much when playing. On rare occasions depending on my mood I'll try to help someone who's tilting a little to really go off the deep end. That's usually only if they're being a dick to begin with though.

Never explain, or defend yourself at the table. This is important, DONT DO IT.

Just say "yeah this site is totally rigged"

or "wow, the same thing happened to me just the other day"

If they call you a fish and start swearing at you say "sorry I am not very good" or "I don't know what it is but I can't fold suited cards" or "I just had a feeling". The other option, which I usually use is just to say nothing. It doesn't matter if you made the right play or made a bad play and got lucky.

Defending your moves may actually make the other player realize he made a mistake.

don't try and apply pot odds, preflop hand % etc to any of it, just type "wow, you got so lucky with that coinflip on the flop too" and then mute him.
