I haven't watched any of the WPT in over a year because I go to the casino on Wednesday nights. I always hated Vince, but liked Sexton.
The banter between the two is absolutely golden. The WPT and Poker on FOX is the only good poker on TV, but this is great. I feel like I'm watching Letterman and Schaffer at times. Anyone else notice the difference? What do you think?
I grew up watching Gabe Kaplan and I love him. ESPN tries to throw Norman Chad in there, but ESPN poker is UNwatchable, no matter who's playing.
Norman Chad's on my shitlist with Bill Walton, Joe Morgan, "Timmy" McCarver, Chris Berman, and others.

i dont really like the WPT coverage b/c too many cameras, lights, flashing strobe lights, whatever, and total cheeze dialogue. however, the actual poker is way better b/c they actuall show hands unlike ESPN. the best coverage was Kaplan like in the pre 2003 days. hellmuth would bust and then would do some analysing too.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

Kornheiser and Wilbon are 2 of the only people I like on ESPN. They're banter is hilarious and they both feed off of each other and have so much knowledge, yet understand that they're not bigger than the production of their show.
Joe Morgan just says random crap that usually makes no sense. No second baseman is ever good to him. I noticed this a lot as a kid when I'd watch the Cubs on ESPN and he still does it.
I used to hate Van Patten (just realized, it's spelled with an "e"), but tonight's show was very entertaining while devoid of entertaining poker. I just notice these things because I used to work in college radio and before I did the whole Morning Zoo thing, I called women's basketball, women's softball, and some untelevised men's basketball games. Van Patten was always so over the top that it took away from the production. He was real melodramatic and it added a ton to the chemistry and the entertainment value.
Oh, I love Steve Stone, who's a part-time ESPN guy, but is the primary baseball expert for a local Chicago station and the voice I listened to through my boyhood, growing up as a Cubs fan. No one does color analysis for baseball like Stoney... NOBODY.

I like Sexton as a commentator...what's actually hilarious to watch is the Celebrity Poker Showdown. Just to hear Phil Gordons comments on what moves the players make.
Van Patten I can take or leave, but I think they work well with one another as far as banter.
They really need to bring back Shana Hyatt though

Having never heard Steve Stone, I can't judge who's best, but I have to plug Jerry Remy as a color commentator. He's got insightful, intelligent things to say, and after watching him on the NESN Red Sox broadcasts, it's always a bit of a shock to watch the national broadcasts of other games. Those people are blathering morons by comparison!
