There's a whole slew of information about them over at 2+2 (am I allowed to say this? If not, just let me know and it won't happen again) but I agree, they seem like they could be profitable.

However, it seems to be the same as just doing regs. in steps at other sites? One guy over at the other boards said how he is certain that he could make it from the $5 step to the $400 step with less than $30 to start...this is something that I'd love to try (I wouldn't doubt him either as he has won over a couple hundred K playing online).

So I'd say try 'em out!

A couple of thoughts...

You only get paid if you place in the money at the top step.
You have to play though 5 steps to get there.
If you buy in for $5 and then you evenually are in the $400 tourney you better not be playing scared! This is my fear, knowing that I've made it through 5 levels and they will play scared at the top step and risk losing and starting over.

You can end up playing many, many tournaments for just that initial fee, which is good since if you "lose" on step 3 you may win a buy-in for step 2.

The steps get very little traffic from what I can tell. You may end up getting to the $400 step and just sitting there for hours waiting for it to fill.

They also have regular & high steps.

I too am interested to hear from someon who plays these.

I've got to the penultimate step and then got knocked back to the 2nd level and I've still got the buyin waiting to be played.

I must have played a dozen games of a single buy-in as providing you don't come in the bottom few you don't lose completely.

The standard is not great, the trick is to be phenomenally aggressive when you get a good hand and be cute on the bubble for the next step, the structure is different at each level for payouts of either the next step the current one or the previous one.

They are a cheap way to have fun with the prospect of a big win.
