mabye a dumb question - is there a lite or free version of excel?

I dunno. But you can free spreadsheet programs, you just gotta look real hard for them. But I'm assuming you have some sort of Office package? Either The Lotus/Wordperfect or MS Office bundle? The spreadsheets can be interchanged.

I've not seen a computer in YEARS that hasn't come with packages with at least basic word processing and spreadsheet software. Are you sure you don't have something?
