Default SS experiment wrap up - for now

just finished the party reload is record time. I played about 1200 hands in only two and a half days. This is a months worth of hands for me normally. Full week if i push it.

This run was not that successful, I only ended up a six bucks (not counting bonus), but a good portion of that was missing my coinflips, and losing with KK to AT and QQ - KK is negative for me this session.

I feel I really learned a lot. I began playing more small ball with AK if I have the choice, calling raising instead of reraising all-in. Won some good pots and avoided big losses.

If course, if I raise and a loose play reraises me, I am still all in. This lost me too many pots were I was even money - a few where I really should have had a walk with the hands ( getting reraised by KJ and 88 and such).

The tables on party were much more weak tight this time. rarely was I called as a dominating favorite, and when I was the cards went against me.

I also didn't get my share of suckouts. My 99 vs TT lost trips over trips. Jacks full of Qs fell to Ks full of Qs on the river - that kind of thing.

The pots in these games were surprisingly small.

Out of almost 1200 hands only 4 were in the $50 range. The times you get to stack someone as a big stack really don't seem to add much to your overall win rate. Especially since when all the money goes in hands are usually pretty close.

I saw QQ vs Kk where the Qs flopped a set and barely anything went in preflop, the guys reraised min each other a few times on the flop, then small bet till the river. The made hands really need to push, but they are afraid too because they usually lose their costumer.

2900 hands and I am running over 5PTbb/100 which is 10 big bets /100 or $2.50/100 at 25NL.

my Party short stack fund is at $172 ( withdrew my deposit plus half the bonus).

At $200 I move to $50NL

As far as not being able to bluff (having no fold equity) and not playing past the flop.

I still found plenty of chance to do that. I do limp a lot in late position, and blinds play is still important.

One example:

I am in the BB with

flop is

just me and the small blind. The small blind bets, I raise him and take the pot.

Another time I flopped middle pair and took after a loose min raiser on a K high board. Not sure the moves are +EV, but it does make one feel like one is playing poker.

Well I've been giving SS a try in the last week, and I can't do it. I dont care what kind of analysis is done, you could mathmatically prove SS is more profitable. Its not for me. I think the pro and cons have been covered, but it has to come down to personal preference and play style. Im not even sure I'm a winning player SS, but I def am deep stack.

Fish, you are right.

I was never trying to say that SS is MORE profitable.

It's biggest strength to me lies in bonus clearing at the low limits where the bonus is as valuable as the play (if not more so).

I have had a lot of fun with it. I have played more hands in the last two week than I usually play in a few months - and I made a decent sum of money 260 or so for 2900 hand. $9/100, not bad when I can bang out 200 hands an hour (or more).

I am not trying to advocate everyone switching to this method, in fact I hope they don't. Playing vs big stacks is the part of the secret to my success .
