Any dummie with no poker skill at all could run a bot and gain profit playing online poker. Any dummie

Its just like when they invented the gun. Any dummie could press the trigger to kill a swordman expert (though I dont think a bot can beat an expert)

Maybe for limit, but not for no-limit.

Limit is a fairly mathematical game, but any no-limit computer strategy can be beaten for sure (if you figured out how the strategy works)

I doubt there IS even an optimal strategy for no-limit, just like there isn't a computer program that can automatically generate profits on the stock market on a regular basis over the course of many years.

yeh but just like humans bots can addapt there game according to different vairables

A swordsman yes, a Jedi....no.

It's often been argued that a good mathematician can play poker and win. But a good poker player should always beat a good mathemetician in the long run.

Can a bot be programmed to take into account that player X has gone all-in every hand so far, and shown hands of 7/2o etc? Therefore calling an all-in when perhaps the pot odds aren't there to do it?

and yes im aware that a bot cannot really play NL, that would be too easy to read.

A bot could take anything into consideration that a human sees.

However even a relatively simple bot would take long to implement. I doubt it's worth the effort, except maybe for limit games.

I remember reading in Maxim an article about how there were commercial bot programs available that anyone could buy and use.

Why would anyone sell winning programs, as opposed to getting rich himself??

The more people use them, the less profitable they'll be.

Obviously they cannot win against themselves.
